Brault and the Gomery Commission
The court ordered publication ban on the testimony of witnesses at the Gomery Commission raises the issue of free speech. While all people should have a right to a fair trial, information should not be hidden from the citizens of a country.
It is an insult to the people of Canada to assume that if they are presented with information, they suddenly become incapable of fairly judging a fellow citizen as a jurist. That this weak argument is enough to allow judges to hinder the presentation of information is disgraceful.
